Caramel – Tortishell Cat sitting on an antique ladder in the 16th-century library of Château Saint Loup.
It seemed almost surreal to be photographing Caramel scampering around the library of this virtually untouched seventeenth-century Château. She was totally oblivious to the pulls her claws were making in the fabric of a possibly priceless antique chair. Rachael couldn’t help but wonder about the characters who had climbed this ladder or sat in this chair contributing to the permanent indentations in the seat. Rachael was also amazed that Caramel sat still long enough for her to capture a sharp image of her.
Château Saint Loup also known as ‘Puss in Boots Castle’ was completed in the 1600s by Claude Gouffiers and his son Louis. The Gouffiers were also Marquis of Caravaz in Italy, the from whom Charles Perrault created the tale and the characters of Puss in Boots.
