Celeste & Ollie – Two dogs descending the Bethesda Terrace staircase in Central Park after an overnight snowfall in Manhattan, New York.

While Rachael and her husband Andy were wandering through Central Park on a cold morning after a snowfall, they came across a couple of New Yorkers walking their dogs. Celeste and Ollie were best friends, as were their owners and they were thrilled of the opportunity to have their dogs photographed by Rachael for inclusion in The New York Dog book. Rachael loved the contrast of the bare trees and the historic structure of the staircase leading down under the Bethesda Terrace, with the added bonus of the dusting of snowmaking the scene even more majestic. Rachael asked if one of the owners could take the two dogs up to the top of the stairs while the other stayed at the bottom with Rachael and called the dogs down, the result, this striking image of a classic New York landmark with the added character of a couple of canine best friends.
