Flash – a Belgian Shepherd dog standing on the edge of the fountain in the centre of the Place de la Concorde, Paris, France.

Rachael first noticed Flash when photographing dogs at the Jardin des Tuileries, near the Louvre in Paris, one of the few places dogs can run free in the heart of the city. Instantly, at a soft command from Koffi, his dog-walker owner, the ten-month-old Belgian Shepherd stopped playing and ran over to a sneaky Labrador. Flash picked up the leash attached to her collar and pulled her back to Koffi’s side, away from the Parisian eating what was obviously a delicious smelling sandwich. Later, once Rachael had introduced herself to Koffi and Flash and joined them on their dog walk, Rachael asked Koffi if he could get Flash to pose on the edge of the fountain in the Place de la Concorde; Flash instantly leapt up onto the edge of the fountain in response to another hardly noticeable command from his owner, and stood in regal stance oblivious to the commotion of all his dog friends splashing around in the fountain, making a marvellous spectacle for delighted Parisians and Tourists in the summer heat. Truly a remarkable dog.
