Henasaurus – Brown Newfoundland Dog with dinosaur spikes down his back
This image of Rachael’s own dog Henry, a chocolate brown Newfoundland, will make a fun art piece and constant talking point within your home or workspace. Rachael often clipped Henry to keep him cooler during the hot New Zealand summers, during one clip Rachael requested the groomer keep a mohawk down Henry’s back. With the clipped-off fur Rachael created Dinosaur spikes out of Cardboard, PVA Glue, and hairspray; once attached to Henry’s remaining mohawk, using hairpins, Henry sat patiently while Rachael captured his portrait. This image is captured true to the camera, on film, no retouching has been applied; once you own a print, look closely and you will see all the bobby pins holding the cones in place along Henry’s back!
Henry was photographed in Rachael’s studio using a large Elinchrom Octa Studio Flash, the image was captured on Kodak Transparency film using a 4x5” Toyoview Camera
* This image is from Rachael’s earlier work, which were all photographed using a Large Format 4x5 inch Film Camera, and occasionally an 8x10 inch Polaroid Camera. Rachael used a very shallow depth of field when photographing with film cameras, this gives these images a softer more painterly quality when printed, the prints still look stunning in all sizes and make magnificent Art pieces, they just don’t appear quite as crisp as an image created on a digital camera.
Rachael recommends this image to be framed using the Dark Wood or Black Frame, this image looks best full-bleed with no white border when using a Dark Frame. This image can also look great with a White or Dark Wood Frame when framed with a white border.
Fine Art Prints are available in five different sizes; 10x12, 12x16, 16x20, 24x30 and 30x40 inches
We have a collection of beautifully crafted Wood Box frames available in 5 different colour ways to choose from for framing your Fine Art Prints: Black, White, White Wash, Grey and Dark Wood.
Fine Art Prints can be framed full bleed, or you can choose the option to have a white border around your image to separate the image from the frame. If you choose to have a border, the image size will be smaller; for example, if you choose a 10x12 inch print with a border, your final product size will be 10x12 inch but your image size will be closer to 8x10 inches. See sample photo.
