Textured Wall, Sault, Provence, France
During her travels of France Rachael was fascinated with photographing the textures of peeling paint, crumbling stone walls, and the exquisite old doors, the older and more character-filled the better in Rachael’s eyes. Having grown up in New Zealand, a relatively ‘new’ country compared to the countries of Europe, being surrounded by all the history of France was exhilarating for her artistic eyes. This wall in the street of the quaint village Sault in Provence is one of Rachael’s absolute favorites, there is so much texture and beauty in the building, every time Rachael looks at this image she sees another texture; imagine the stories behind these locations, how many people have walked down that cobbled street and leaned on the wall or peered out from behind the curtain.
A cropped version of this image was published in Rachael’s book The French Cat.
Rachael captured this image on her Hasselblad H3 Digital Camera, using an 80mm lens in Natural Light in the Village of Sault, Provence, France.
Rachael recommends this image to be framed using a White, Black, Whitewashed, or Oak Frame, with or without a white border.
