The Red Baron – Brown Newfoundland Dog wearing flying goggles and scarf
This image of Rachael’s own dog Henry, a chocolate brown Newfoundland, will make a stunning art piece in your home or workspace. This image of Henry is one of Rachael’s most treasured images, Henry was her first dog, and her Muse during the earlier years of her photographic career. Rachael herself has
a print of this image that holds a pride of place on her living room wall.
Henry was photographed in Rachael’s studio wearing Flying Goggles and a scarf while he sat in front of a large fan that kept him cool. The inspiration behind this image came from Rachael’s childhood love of the Charlie Brown characters;
Snoopy being her favorite, but Henry with his cheeky and humorous personality was more suited to portraying the more devious Red Baron.
The Red Baron was photographed for Rachael’s first book 101 Salivations: For the love of Dogs but also appears in her book It’s a Zoo Out There.
Photographed on 8x10 inch Polaroid using a 10x8 Sinar Camera in Studio with a large Elinchrom Octa softbox.
* This image is from Rachael’s earlier work, which were all photographed using a Large Format 4x5 inch Film Camera, and occasionally an 8x10 inch Polaroid Camera. Rachael used a very shallow depth of field when photographing with film cameras, this gives these images a softer more painterly quality when printed, the prints still look stunning in all sizes and make magnificent Art pieces, they just don’t appear quite as crisp as an image created on a digital camera.
Rachael recommends this image to be framed using the Dark Wood or Black Frame, this image looks best full-bleed with no white border when using a Dark Frame. This image can also look great with a white frame when framed with a white border.
