Tiki – English Bull Terrier standing next to a Fire Hydrant on the streets of New York City.
The grungy graffitied Fire Hydrant and the worn brickwork on the building behind make a perfect compliment to the tones of Tiki’s coat; similar tonal ranges are often aspects Rachael looks for when creating her images. The streets of Soho are the common stomping ground for Tiki and his ex-pat owner, both relocated from New Zealand and have made a home in New York City. So when Rachael met Tiki, she spent time walking the streets of Soho looking for a location that would work to showcase Tiki’s coloring and his tough-looking exterior, though tough is the last thing Tiki is, he is a big softie. When Rachael found a back Alleyway, lined with red brick buildings and a classic NYC Fire Hydrant, she knew she had found the perfect spot.
This image was published in Rachael’s book The New York Dog.
Tiki was photographed by Rachael using her H3 Hasselblad Digital Camera in Natural Light in the streets of Soho, New York City.
